Twisp for bear?!?
« on: August 02, 2014, 05:22:10 PM »
My good friend and long time bear hunter and I are going to hunt twist this year for bear, or at least we were going to until the fires. I'm wondering what everyone thinks about us sticking to our plan or thinking of somewhere else to go?

I'm wanting to stick with the plan he is not. Any thoughts? Anyone up there now still seeing bear sign?

I have seen a few bear in and around Twisp .. but when I do they are usually taking off before you can even think about shooting them ..reason being I think is because they have been trapped so many times and relocated up river that they instantly take off when they see you ...I have seen a couple really big bear there over the years but never had a chance to kill them ..

Honestly this year, I'd look elsewhere. Plenty of other options on the east side if that's where you're wanting to hunt. I realize you're not affected by the fires here, but with all that has went on and is going on, I personally would spend my time elsewhere this season.  :twocents:

Gold Creek torched. I have a pic of a bear from there that didn't make it. I'm really curious to see that wdfw does before Aug 15. If things don't get shut down in affected areas, there's going to be a big uproar from us locals.

Gold creek was the first to go, buy even so, better choices would be Goat Peak, the n fork Methow out of rattlesnake, fawn and cub creek, and the boulder creek area..Good luck!
