Most are going to sound the same, or can sound the same with the right technique. I would suggest a closed reed and I would buy Burnham Brothers. Either the C3 Long Range, MB1 Mini Blaster or the BM1 Black Magic. In that order.I would rather buy from Bearmanrick, Jason Phelps or Rainshadow.
You talking elk - deer - bear or coyote if YOUR TALKING ELK I would order from Phelps ... His calls sound awesome and sound very good .. You talking bear then Bearmanic ...deer I would go with Quacker Boys Ridge Runner .. I have called in many blacktail with this call even though it is for whitetail I like two kinds of whitetail ...how about you
Buy one from Rick. I have four of his calls and many of Jason Phelps', as well. Both are extremely talented makers and the sounds they produce are excellent. Sit with a buddy at your back or a big rock wall. They will come in on you!
I have a couple different calls and have yet to call anything in except a coyote last weekend. He hung around for a long while too. My question is should I continue using my manual call or invest in a electronic call? I went with a guy last year that was using an electronic call and he had the dang thing so loud it was echoing in the valleys which I thought would be too loud. We didn't see any bear that day either. Opinions?
