« on: August 05, 2014, 07:40:18 AM »
I plan on hunting Mountain View unit for muzzleloader this year, but I got a friend who wants to hunt spike elk in Umtanum  unit area. Does anybody have any suggestions or thoughts on that

There's no shortage of elk in the Yakima units

He is muzzleloading for elk. I hunt deer the in umtanum, but on the east side of it, so not to many elk there. He wants me to go with, but I'm tryn to decide what unit would be best Mt view or umtanum

What about people traffic. Is there a lot of hunters up in umtanum, seems like I read a lot more about more people being there

Had a buddy draw a muzz cow tag in the Umtanum last fall. Said every turn out had a truck and every camping spot was packed. Trucks all over the roads and guys all over the hills. He said he would never go back. But as already mentioned, scout, scout, scout or hike farther than everybody else and you'll find the animals.

My wife and I drew cow tags for umtanum.  While there are a good number of elk there, it will still  be a big challenge because of the amount that of hunters.
