I work at a ford dealer. Guaranteed lowest tire prices. We'll literally beat anyone.
It's a Ford thing.

That's cool.

Im slowly shifting away from buying the very  cheapest I can possibly buy and sticking with locally owned stuff even if its a few bucks more sometime.  I get great service from this dude and hes even done some quick,  odd stuff for free for me.  so I dont have any plans to go online or with _D_ _T_.

You got me there. If you have some tires you need for your pickup I will beat prices you get anywhere else....if you were local. As long as you're comparing apples to apples a Ford dealer will beat anyone else's tire prices if they're on the tire program. Customer needs to provide a written estimate from elsewhere and we will beat the price. It's good at time of purchase and for 30 days after. I even do the shopping for my customers. Usually Discount Tire is the lowest price local to me. They won't give out written estimates so I print them off the web and then beat the prices for my customers. We only have to beat them by a couple  bucks a tire. You get free lifetime rotate and balance, flat repair, road hazard warranty, etc all at no additional charge.

New Firestone or Michelin 265 70 R17(E) from a little dealer in Id. for 125.00 each. No warranty but no problems either. Just have to go there and pick up 8 or 12 when picking up a new rig.

Thanks all. More discussion welcome.

I have them on my 2500hd, about 25k on them. So far I am very pleased. My boss ran those on his 1/2 ton, got 70k out of 10 plys, last set he cheaped out and bought lighter duty versions and got 30k. They do make a little noise out on the highway but not horrible IMO.

Woodchuck- by light duty version you mean the 4 ply tires? That's what I was quoted. The Hajj told me that the 10 ply tires are more for heavy loads and come at the expense of smoothness of ride (as well as additional cost). You're saying they get more miles too?  :dunno:
10 ply is for heavier trucks and will have a stiffer sidewall, they say you lose some ride quality but I couldn't tell a difference on the bosses 1/2 ton. That may be because I have to run 10 ply.  :dunno: To answer your question, if alignment and steering/suspension pieces are good you will get more miles with a 10 on a lighter duty rig.

we put 10 ply AT3's on my wife's explorer a few years ago.  I couldn't be happier.  We have 20-25k miles on them and they still are wearing wonderfully.  They are amazing in the snow and ice compared to all the others I have tried.  They are quiter than the toyo open country's that were on it prior. The only flaw is that we lost some mileage going from a 4 ply tire to an 10 ply tire, much i am sure due ot the weight of the tire.   I have since had friend's put them on their pickups and they are extremely happy with them.  I still put mud tires on my truck, but if I were going all terrain, I wouldn't hesitate on the AT3's.  They are also fairly affordable as well.

I have at3 on my truck. I love them! My only complaint is that they fling sticks and rocks and mud everywhere. Could be driver error tho...  :chuckle:

I bought the 10 ply AT3s a couple months ago for my Dakota.
Radical difference the the "Prestige" crap that was on it when I bought it. So far they have been great. Hopefully they will be a nice inexpensive alternative to BFG AT KOs.

The AT3's are the best bang for your buck for the application you're looking for. :twocents:
