There are in fact other nipples on the market with larger flash holes. Hot shot nipples, red hot nipples, etc. There are even a couple with extra side holes. They do not create any problems with blow back. I took one of my musket nipples and enlarged it to 1/16+ of an inch. Much better fire, and no blow back. Where you will get a problem is in inclement weather. The larger hole tends to wisk in more water during sleet and rain storms. So be prepared for miss fires do to moisture. Just my two bits!
