North Idaho buck...
«

Was a tough year with few deer seen, but did manage to take this decent 4x5 the weekend before Thanksgiving. Lot fewer deer seen this year in our traditional haunts. I think last winter was harder on them than most thought.

Very nice Goldtip!! I would agree with the hard winter factor. I have a little retreat in Ashford. Last year we had serious snow in early October. It didn't finally go away until the latter part of May. With all the wolf tracks that have been seen, I wonder if they are taking a toll too. Thanks for the pictures and Congratulations!!

Ya know what Bone, I truly haven't seen any wolf sign down where we hunt in Idaho. Not sure if it happenes to be low game counts or not. Deer were certainly scarce down there this year, but elk and Moose were not scarce at all. I was able to blow even more archery opportunities this year on elk than I did last year!
Anyway, to answer your question, I saw one very large wolf track down there this past spring, but no *censored* and not tracks this fall.

Nice buck Goldtip! I was told that they lost 75% of the herd in some places over there. I elected to stay home this year and eat the license fee. Way to get it done in not so good conditions.

Well he was a younger buck, and in hindsight with the low number of sightings, taking one from the herd is probably not QDM!
Yeah, I recently read that harvest statistics were down 75% for the area we hunt, which I would say was easily confirmed with the low number of deer we were seeing.
