Where to buy archery gear in SW Washington?
« on: August 15, 2014, 10:37:26 PM »
I normally do most of my shopping at Archery Word in Vancouver because they seem to have fairly good service, however I know that Sportsmans has a fairly good selection and so does Bob's Sporting Goods in Longview. Who do you think has the best deals?  Who has the best customer service?  Looking to buy a new bow that is why I am asking.

Triple XXX archery in Rainier OR is a good option.

Bows are marked up - HUGE! Archery world will negotiate with you; sportsmans, good luck, you might get 10%,maybe, AW more. Plus thats what they do, archery and nothing but.

Hard to beat kyle at archery world.  Im very biased in my opinions i tend to always steer to the latest and greatest of bows and equipment. Which tends tto be the most expensive too.  Kyle the manager at archery world seems more down to earth on whats really needed, plus he spends quite a bit of time tweeking with your bow until its shooting bullets.  If u could wwait until sportman show u can get some smokin deals from them and its tax free.  Shops are super busy the next couple weeks.

All I can say is if you buy anything at sportsmans don't let them install it!

Bobs for customer service.  I broke my string stop last year, archery world and sportsman told me it was an issue I had to take up with the manufacture.  Bobs looked at my bow, took a new bow off the wall and removed the part I needed. Then handed me the new part and said have a nice day.  dumbfounded I ask "no charge?", he said I shouldn't have wasted my time going to another bow shop.     I could not have agreed more.  Well worth the extra drive for that kind of service.   :twocents:

I tend to go to Sportsmans more often for the reason most items are cheaper and I install my own
accessories. I have Cory at XXX make and install my strings and cables. The last bow I bought new I got it at Broken Arrow in Milwaukee.

Retailers are not used car dealers.  And to be quite honest mark-up on bows is VERY small compared to most things.  One of the reasons so few archery shops make it past the first few years as they tie up all there working capital in the lowest margin items...bows & arrows.

IMO Kyle & Joe (Archery World) and Corey (xXx Archery) are the best service shops in SW WA.  On the right days Bob's too.  Corey, probably the most knowledgeable.  None of them would I expect to negotiate much on price for current year products.  Margins just are not there.  It's hard to cover payroll, rent and taxes when you give stuff away.

Now come November when last years overstock needs to go to cover new model year items...that is the best time to try and find a bargain.  That goes for the pro shops and Sportsman's Warehouse.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
