scouting trip 13 miles round trip with salt licks
« on: August 26, 2014, 04:25:12 PM »
Me and my boys hiked into where we are hunting the high hunt dropped off a couple of 50 # salt licks. Saw 13 deer 2 bucks. Lots of bugs. 6.5 miles each way wow gotta cut down to a pack a day. What really amazes me is how some people will take a toyota prius into the worst possible places but give me and my kids dirty looks for carrying rifles. Like we are weird. Lol. 4 days in the high country I hope I can put my son on his first deer. Good luck to everyone hiking with guns.

You had rifles in the woods that's scary.  Weren't you afraid of hippies?

The metros seemed pretty afraid of us kinda questioning why we were there and my boys thought they were funny. Definitely outnumbered us 10 to 1 .

At 54 miles per gallon maybe I should be taking my Prius on scouting trips instead of the Tundra!  Good idea...

Yeah this road was beating my jeep up pretty hard I could imagine getting stuck behind a prius going 1 mph.  Hopefully the salt will bring in a shooter buck.

My buddy has a Prius and has tons of pro gun...NRA stickers...etc. He said from the views he gets on the west side...he is basically looked upon as the anti christ.

Good job getting back in there with the kids!

Not sure I would be packing a 50 lb block in when the small blocks would suffice. Getting a little late in the game to be conditioning them to the salt. That i-90 corridor does bring out the Prius's.

Hi sky val hunter yeah my son has been studying up and planning all year we were supposed to go up in July job didn't let that happen so Sunday he's out looking to buy salt the only place he found open on a Sunday only had 50 pounders. Heck he even payed for them so I got stuck helping pack mule t hose suckers in. At least now he has something to hunt over and maybe won't take as many naps as usual. Tires this old man out staying awake glassing while he's sleeping. 17 and needs a nap really. Lol
