Bull on the ground
« on: September 05, 2014, 05:26:35 PM »
Ok well today was a good day on the mountain.   We started by glassing a clear cut at first light and found a small herd feeding and decided to make our move.  We took our time and watched the wind as to make sure we didnt blow the stalk.

We get into position and I range the bull and give my brother the heads up ( he has the video camera on)  and I shoot.  I hit the bull back a bit and watch the herd slowly move towards the timber.   I put my boots back on and head into the timber to cut them off and wouldn't you know it the followed the trail directly below the one I was on.  Cow, cow, cow all pass at 20 yards and then he slowly walks by.  I drew back and let him walk by and put my Savora behind the shoulder and release.  The arrow slams home and he goes 40 yards and then falls 40 yards into a thick nasty spot.  All good times after that and we made quick work of him out in the field.  Great time and great fun.  Cant wait to do it all over again.

Oh I forgot a key part.  I go back to view the footage and apparently he just watched the hunt with the video camera and didnt hit the red button.   :chuckle:

Nice bull!!!  I'm not sure I'm going to be able to top that this weekend but I'm headed out tomorrow to try:-). I'm hoping a couple of those bucks we spotted last year are  now whoppers  and will let me fling an arrow their way:-).

Nice that you posed this one so the internet Nazis can see all the points   Bummer they closed the woods where that big six was.  But this guy probably tastes better anyway!

After all this action you better leave home at midnight and switch trucks three or four times before hitting the woods.  Otherwise you'll be scratching off hunters like fleas :o  I've already been asked three times if I know where your hunting spot is.  No one has put up enough money...yet :chuckle:

Congratulations!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I agree with RadSav.  Great bull and heck of a way to finish him off.  Congrats.
