spada lake anyone?

My Dad Took Me Up There A Lot Growing Up.  I Know The Rules Have Changed, But I've Also Been Told That You Can't Fish It Anymore.
Has Anyone Fished It This Year?  What Worked Best?

I used to fish it and do a lot of shooting there. We used to use flies and sometimes flat fish. I don't think you can get in there anymore.

You can get in there no problem, and you can still fish it. You just can't get across the dam anymore.
I fished it earlier this summer.

you can fish spada.

very strict gear rules though.

Only unscented artificial
flies or lures with one single-point, barbless hook
are allowed.
Up to a total of three artificial flies or
lures, each containing one single-point, barbless
hook may be used.
Bait is prohibited; fish may
be released until the daily limit is retained.
 Only
knotless nets may be used to land fish except
where specifically allowed under Special Rules
for individual waters.
If any fish has swallowed
the hook or is hooked in the gill, eye, or tongue,
it should be kept if legal to do s

cant keep any trout over 12 inches.
no gas motors
all tributaries closed to all fishing
no two pole endorsements

fishing closes on Oct 31st.

It used to be a nice place to fish.  Now the rules make it not worth the drive and effort.

That is such a pretty looking lake / area... I have wanted to fish it too but the rules are kinda out there.  Anyone know why it is that way?  Are those wild trout?   :dunno:

Thanks

John. The rules are extremely stringent. i  believe mostly  it is due to the fact that Spada is the primary water resource for the major of the Everett Area.   i also thing that they dont really care to have alot of folks fishing there because of the fact that Spada lake has a large dam that is deemed a terror threat if it were to be compromised it would literally wipe out the entire town of Sultan.

The lake is gorgeous lots and lots of wildlife to  be seen and no yahoo's to deal with but yeah fishing isnt the best.  but ive caught dozens of trout just rollinga spinner bait trolling and the majority of the rainbows / cutthroats fight like hell.

sorry for typos and  also they have not stocked the lake in probably over a decade from what i've heard . if youmake the hike  up to greider lake and can withstand the biting flys, that lake holds  some of the most beautiful golden trout i've ever seen. a deep deep golden color and they fight like crazy too!

Yeah, that's a good point about it being the primary water source... I thought it might have something to do with that.  Thanks for the explanation.

It used to be a nice place to fish.  Now the rules make it not worth the drive and effort.

It's pretty much single barbless, no bait. Nt sure what is so difficult. It's a beautiful place to spend the afternoon. I could think of about a million places that'd be a lot worse places to be.

Catching fish in Spada isn't difficult.  Leach pattern flies trolled slowly with lead core line usually does the job.  The problem is you can't keep anything over 12".  I don't keep fish under 12" so it is catch and release fishing.
