another stolen cam thread!
« on: September 12, 2014, 10:26:15 PM »
Had My Cam In 340.  Stolen In Archery Season.  Good Idea Of Who Was In The Area.  Next Year It Will Be In The Same Spot, But I Am Going To Put Several Cams In The Direct Area.  If You Decide To Take It Again,  Better Look Around Real Good, Because I Will Get A Pic Of You.  When I Do I Will Post Here, And On Facebook, And Everywhere Else.  I Hope It's Not A Member, But I Doubt It Is.  There Is A Chance.
Your Are Bag Whoever Took It, And It's Not The First Time.  Last It Was A treestand.  This Year It Was Chained Up Right?
Brother In Law Informed Me Of It The Other Night.
Next Time Just Pull The Card, Look At The Pics, Use Them To Your Advantage, And Put It Back Where You Found It, Or Have Your Pic I. The Web

Hey Sled,

You think it was one of the "friends" from down below?  Wouldn't surprise me....

How did the b-in-law do?

I haven't hung mine the last few years, partly because I haven't had time to get out and scout but also for that very reason.

See you during smokepole season, I should be up top somewhere close to my normal spot.

Do You Have Anyone Up Top This Year?  There Are Some New People Up There This Year From What I Understand, And Not To Many Others In And Out Of The Area.
Bro In Law Has Not Done Any Good So Far.  A 2X3 In The Big Canyon Was Taken Opening Day, And A Cow Shot.and Lost In The Water Holes After that Sometime.  Other Than That He Said It Has BeenslSlow.  My Cam Was In The Salt Lick That ThereYou Know Of.  I Know Most Of The People That Hunt The Area Know The Spot, But It Could Have Been Anyone.
I Just Wish People WouldNot Steal, But Use The Info To Their Advantage.
Next Year I Won't Be After Game Pics As Much As Theifs.
Looking Forward To Meeting Up With You And RG.  There Will Be Beer In The Fridge.

The guys I have been hunting with the last few years up there had a few bull tags in camp but haven't heard anything from them yet.  They were down the road just a little ways past my usual spot.  The guys in my usual spot this week are friends too, wouldn't have been anyone from those two groups.  Didn't sound like there were many others up there but there are always new guys around.

I usually take a few screw in tree steps in with me and hang my camera about 15 feet off the ground, then pull the steps after I get it set.  They are also in a metal boxed and secured with a python cable.  It's a pain to check that way but haven't lost one that way.

There will be beer!  See you in a couple of weeks.   :IBCOOL:

I hear you sled! I have been having an awful season so far, decided to check one of my cams today mid day to see if any action, was last resort spot, and somebody cut my cam/heavy duty steel box off the tree. I know it was hunters and that is the real disgusting part. Only truck I have seen/heard of into area was a white quad can dually. I was so mad I couldn't think straight. Just unreal. Good luck to you. Hopefully these theives and their rigs catch fire and roll off the hills

Was it a white dodge dually?  We've run into them before......great guys..... :yike:

If they were in the same area as Sled's camera we've seen them before....they come out of what I call the "120 yard camp"......

they are well known....even with the Sheriff's office over there.....

Mine was stolen sometime in the last two weeks up in 340 as well. Jerk even took the quarter salt lick that I had out there. Not an area for horseback riders or hikers. Guessing it was one of my fellow sportsmen. Really pisses a guy off.

I got two pics of hunters walking past my cam that never seemed to notice.  Are you guys hiding your cam?  The best security is concealment is what I have learned.

I got pics of 2 guys checking out one of my trail cameras during archery elk season. I thought it was concealed pretty good. I had another camera a little further up the hill and it was stolen. Don't know if it was the same guys....  This was in a wilderness area, over 2 miles from the closest trail.    >:(
