Salmon La Sac
« on: September 16, 2014, 01:33:15 PM »
I'm heading over this Friday morning to go camping for my Brothers birthday, and thought I'd bring a rifle with me just in case. Does anyone have any experience in this area? I'm not looking for a honey hole, or any place specific, just curious if anyone has hunted for bear in the Salmon La Sac or Roslyn/Ronald area, and if there is any advice or information specific to this area. I figure we'll just do some exploring and glassing via FS roads, and I'm not going specifically to hunt, but you never know what you'll see.

Thanks.

I've never hunted there before but I know a guy that does the high hunt every year over there. Find the trails that head into the wilderness area and go higher and further than the hikers. He has taken a couple of bears and real nice deer on that hunt.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

I've never had a problem finding huntable ground there. Definitely can be some good bear hunting, we killed a gorgeous blonde up there a few weeks ago but we were deep into the wilderness, about 5500 ft of elevation. You might be a little late as far as berries go. I killed my first bear while archery deer hunting near cooper lake.

we hiked to lake Terrance one year.  Lots of bear sign.  Seen a bruiser from the peak of Mt. Davis a few miles off.  Id go up mineral creek, or palali ridge.  Up past cooper lake there's some cuts to watch from the roads.
