Buying an Alphamax, now what arrows are you guys using?
« on: December 11, 2008, 05:16:41 PM »
Ok I'm gonna buy a Hoyt Alphamax 32 tomorrow.  My question to all of you, what arrows are you guys using?  This will be my primary hunting setup that will double for some 3d.  I was looking at the Easton N-Fused carbon and the Axis full metal jackets.  I've currently been using Carbon Impact arrows with Flex Fletch vanes with my curent Parker Hunter Mag.  Thanks in advance guys.

either one is great, mine has not came in yet, but I will be shooting 27.5 at 70lbs with a 28.5 in axis n fused 340... personally the best arrows for the best bow IMO.. cant go wrong with easton axis.. nothing else comes close

I've always shot Easton and had great luck with them. I'm currently shooting the St. Epic and have had no issues with them. In fact when I bought my new bow this summer I was getting it sighted in in the backyard and had just dialed the 30 yrd pin in but didn't tighten it down enough and my sight moved. When I shot again I sent a arrow through my outside garage wall. No damage to the arrow at all, I was truly surprised. Thats why I always shoot with a good backstop, you never know when something like that will happen.

Personally, what I think you should do is....before buying any arrows, just take it home and practice shooting without any arrows. They say you get 1500 dry fires, so to play it safe I would suggest using arrows after about 1475 shots. Hopefully you see my humor Paul... :chuckle:

All kidding aside...I shoot the axis n fused and love them.

also the st epics are a great arrow, its what megan shoots and so have some of my buddies, you just get a little more with the n fused axis, just depends on what you are looking for, either are quite nice

Thanks for the input so far guys.  I think I am leaning towards the N-fused since I plan on doing alot of target practice and I assume they will hold up longer than the FMJ's.

I would agree, I cant seem to break one, the last 2 deer had the arrow in them for a combined 350yrds.... no breaks..even after they fell on the arrows!!!! I have never used a arrow as tough thats for sure...

I have shot 3 and all have worked great........ Muzzy 100gr mx4.. these things are as tough as nails, fly like a field point and seriously purt a hurting on anything you hit with them... my #1 choice.., 2nd would be 100 or 125 grain shuttle T LOC. also fly like a field point and do some damage, 3rd is a montech G5, same as the other 2 great flight and a massive hole, I really love the mx4 though, amazing penetartion and great flight..... you should see what they do to a deer or elk!

I'm shooting the Wac'em 100 grain triton broadheads with my n fused shafts. All I know is they fly good cause I haven't had the chance to shoot anything with them yet.

Thanks Hoyt and Antler.  That's also good to know about the Wac'ems since that's what I have been using for the last four years.  Have you been using the three or four blade Antler?  I've also been wanting to try the Montec's.
