Opening day at 6:40pm.

Did you have to crawl on your belly to get him?

I've passed up four legal bucks but it certainly isn't a normal year.... Lots and lots of deer but very few bucks to blow a stalk on

Top one is my sons first buck at 12 years old and the other is my brothers pig.  Both taken Tuesday morning but in different areas.

The weird thing about that is this particular area has been notorious for bucks not rubbing thier velvet.  The bigger deer are usually the ones that seem to not rub for some reason.  Usually there's a deer or two per year shot during rifle season that will look similar.  I cant figure out why they dont rub as there is a ton of sagebrush draws where these deer live that seem ideal for stripping velvet.

Yes very slow opening weekend in the Palouse this year. Very few shots heard and only one buck(not legal) seen in the 4 days I was out.  Hopefully late season picks up.

I saw a bunch of deer in 181 and just as many road hunters, maybe more. It was a zoo.
