muzzle mulie
« on: September 30, 2014, 09:01:51 PM »
Had to work for this years buck.  Got to spend time with my son he came to hunt the weekend.  Saturday we got to our glassing spot and were literately covered up with deer.  Every direction there were deer and one bunch of legal bucks.  Thing was not a one of them were in a place we could do anything with them.  Finally the best bucks came of the hill and we decided to circle around to get back on them.  On the way we jumped a MONSTER buck at about 15 feet and we both missed.
The rest of the day was nothing but 2 points.  Sunday we had a legal buck in a bowl that is very easy to stalk and is about as a sure kill as you can get.  But had four coyotes go in and bust him out -= they darn near got the doe that was with him.  Matthew headed back to WSU sunday afternoon and I was on my own which is tougher.  Finished the day with just two points and baby bucks.  Monday I found three bucks and a few does in a spot that I have never seen deer before.  They were way out from where I was at, but in a spot that i could get to without being seen.  Took about 30 minutes to get there and they did not move.  I came over a small hill that I had kept between me and them and had about a 30 yard shot on this buck.  Not huge by any means but a decent 3 point.  On to elk next....stay tuned....

i tried my hand at a mulie hunt with the front stuffer this weekend, and have to say, any legal mule deer on public land with a muzzleloader is a trophy in itself.  nice deer!

hey nice buck man....   besides, it's a mule with a muzzy... I think you get to add 2 or 3 more points for difficulty.
