Cowiche elk hunting
«

Couple of questions guys and gals. I write this as I sit in camp during our muzzy hunt. We have hunted hard in a part of the unit where we ALWAYS see elk. My brother saw 3 cows opening day but nothing since and my buddy and I nothing. In fact the couple of camps nearest to us have yet to see an elk. Unseasonably warm temps are killing us. Any ideas, areas you might suggest. We are generally hunting above Nasty Creek flats.
My other question is... Heard from another hunting party that one of the lucky folks that drew a rifle rut tag here nailed a 380" bull. Any one know about it?
Totally hoping to score a honey hole. Pm me

I hope they post that 380 bull. I would love to see it. Are you spike/cow hunting?

Not sure where it was killed but heard it was a nice bull for sure. If I were you I'd be hunting the deep dark timber, maybe even go out later tonight and throw out a locator bugle, the bulls are still active.

Couple years ago it was hot as heck over there. All the elk were still down low in the fields. Only elk i heard of being seen we down off cowiche mill rd. watch out for the locals down there though. There are a few really interesting fellas that live down there.

During the hunt mentioned above. We covered weddle and cowiche canyon up high. Wasnt til the last day that a cow and calf ventured up to the top. Hunting pard missed on the cow and he ate his cow tag.

Normally i would say go to the top of the mountain, but since the zoo started saturday and everyone put thier camps where the elk were hanging out a few days ago, all bets are off. The elk are now, where you fingld them
