Why was it a let down??  To many hunters?  No deer?

Call it 40+ years of hind sight, but if I didnt have a place like Entiat scouted frequently and know exactly where I needed to be at day break day one, Id opt to take my licks the last week..............Theres been way too many bad moon, bad weather openers looking back.....wish I had them all back.

With some roads closed there are a couple more hunters then usually.  Saw one 2 point and lots of doe!  Heard only 6 shots over the weekend and only saw one hanging at one of the camps

If your buddy drives a white or silver new jeep 4 door he is welcome because we kicked that out of the brush and up across the road in front of them. He did make a nice single shot kill though.

We saw 5 bucks that were taken opening day, saw 4 does on the hoof. Sunday afternoon I filled my disabled doe tag. Lots of people out and about. I know of two illegally killed two points that the gamies got. and heard about one deer that was chased from mud creek to Potato creek before it was finished.

opener was a joke up there. we hiked into a caynon well before daylight to get our posisition so the regular hunters push the deer up to us,which has worked just about every time, and we were surrounded by 15  guys shortly after daylight with just one doe with a fawn. saw nine bucks hanging.

First year hunting Entiat. Won't go back.
To start off we were planning to backpack 8 miles into an area to be closed out to a fire that made it further than we thought. Due to being from west side didn't realize that till we got there. That changed our plans
Every set of shots I heard up that way was between 3 to 9 shots on every volley at a deer. Some people need to go to the range.
Now to the good stuff.
Hunted an area from first light and around 9ish give or take crested over a small ridge top and was glassing across a valley. Spotted a " HUNTER" at 450 yards across the valley. As soon as I saw him I noticed his gun go up on shooting sticks and pointed directly onto my dad and I. It scared me to death to say the least. But after a minute I saw the gun go down. In relief and trying to calm down we decided to get the heck outa there. When we started to move again I noticed he picked the gun back up and proceeded to aim again on us. We slowly backed out and watched the gun pointed at us the whole time till out of sight. This was Monday morning. If your on this sight and are the one that did this your an idiot.
Lots of stories on how this hunt went but it would take to long to write. As to the hunter that was with a couple of buddies that jumped the only legal buck in front of us on the whole trip and proceeded to shoot 4 shots at the running deer and then yelling back and forth for a couple miles down the drainage with your buddies and screwing every other hunter in the area go back to the range. Sorry for the rant but there were a couple of winners up there this year.
