Anyone harvest this bull????
« on: October 15, 2014, 10:21:48 PM »
Had this bull on camera for quite a few years and this year he did not come home.... :'(  Anyone know if he was harvested last year?  Easy to identify with the collar.  Hope he went to a legal hunter and not a poacher.  Also hope he didn't die of old age....if so it would be a huge waste of such a majestic animal.

Nice bull and general area? Not exact or honey hole location.

I think I killed him a few weeks ago!  Might not be the same bull but they look about the same.

Shot him at about 5 yards with a Bowtech Experience.  Watched him go down within 20 yards.  Then as I was packing the first load of horns and meat out I had what I believe to have been a heart attack.  That was about the time I woke up!! :chuckle:

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

He sure is.....I looked forward to seeing him on camera this year and was sad when he didn't show up.  I was hopeful that the rut would bring him out of his hole so left cameras out.  Needless to say he never showed.  I have some nice elk on camera but this guy takes the cake.....he is huge bodied and his rack is just amazing.

:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:  Pretty sure if I saw this guy at 5 yards I would have a heart attack before I could shoot.   :chuckle: :chuckle:  I had a huge bull at 25 yards this year and my heart about jumped out of my chest....what a rush.  This is why we love hunting elk.

This was post main rut.....I just assumed he had worked hard through Sept. fighting other bulls and mating with cows.  I will see if I have pre rut pics to compare.

If so that explains why I didn't have him on camera......He was not in the 329 unit 3 years prior.  How do you pass on a bull like this????  Not to knowledgeable about scoring bulls, but his is a wall hanger and a bull of a lifetime.

I'm curious why you would consider this bull dying of old age a huge waste? In my opinion, today's world of technology in hunting, I think its pretty rare for a bull like that to make it to old age and die naturally.

I really feel that if thats what happened, it's a wonderful thing that the bull lived a full life avoiding predators and spread his genes just like he's supposed to.  :twocents:
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.
