Out of state group
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:33:14 PM »
Hey guys I have been pondering and kicking it around with some friends and nobody wants to commit to this idea. Mostly I get " we don't know where to go" "we have never been there" "I don't wanna waste time with the learning curve" well to tell you I am past that and I am looking to better myself as a sportsmen and an outdoorsmen. I am pretty green to the backcountry hunts but really want to do that, but mostly to connect with other folks that share my same passion. To give you guys an idea I am 30 years old and I would like to think I could keep up with most but I am not afraid to put in extra work to keep up. I currently archery hunt but I have a rifle and muzzleloader as well. I am down for pretty much any type of hunt. Thanks for listening guys.

Tigger out where you would like to hunt. Then map quest the area . Use sattlite emegas  zoom in you can see the road canyons ridges . If you like the area . Contact a bio for the area to see what the deer elk prospect is. If it sounds good just go for . The wrest thing can happen you fill your tag.

I am from Battle Ground and I have hunted the same areas for years but I just want to get out and see what else there is out there and meet new hunters. Doesn't even matter what method of choice just something new. My dad has done the same thing year in and year out and he is good with that but I have always wanted more and everybody I plan with always seems to have some excuse and I am tired of it. Ready to make a move with or without them.

try joining mule deer foundation, safari club rmef etc and go to functions. good way to make contacts for out of state hunts. Make trips n off season over to Montana, Id, Or etc. Pick an area out of state and speak to game bios in those areas.

There are so many great hunts to go on in many states it is crazy.
The key is getting good tags.
Start applying and getting points because someday you will get some awesome tags.
For now take some simple tags on public land or get a good reputable guide.
I wrote an app to keep track of my own points and my families points.
It also reminds me to apply in lots of states.
You can be super successful when you get the best tags.

PointHunter may be the best hunting app.
Preference/Bonus Points and application reminder app. $1.99.
   Key features
1. Application deadline reminders and verification you applied.
2. Be the first to know your draw results
3. Access to your points: anytime, anywhere.

Watch how it works on youtube.

I will attach some pictures of out of state hunts my family did this year.  At least half in new areas.  We had so many good tags we had to turn some back in for time reasons.
