Hello all, im a new member and thought I would try and post some pics...Hope this works!

While skinning him i found about 12 inches of arrow with a muzzy 4 blade on it..He was still chase'n cows!

He must have injured it in the velvet, there was a club with an eyegaurd on the other side..

Nice looking bull!!! Seeing pictures like that with the arrow should remind us all to be cautious when gutting/skinning critters in the field. It would be real easy to run one of those blades across a vein or an artery. Nice job.

Nice bull, would like to have seen him with the other side still attached.......

Can you tell us more about the partial arrow you found in him; any entry angel, organs hit etc....... These are big tough animals and you always here of the one that was taken during modern or muzzy with an arrow in them and not putting them on the ground. I have read articles where guys have found broadheads buried in the liver or even heart and you would never know based on the behavior of the animal. Thanks.

I noticed a pusy wound on the top of his back between his shoulders after shooting him, i figured it was an injury from fighting. After skinning him I put the gloves on and started to remove the puss pocket so that it would not contaminate the meat and felt something, right away I thought it was probably an arrow shaft and it was. By the looks of the angle and entry I'm guessing that he was shot from a tree stand. The arrow just entered the top of his chest cavity, having come between his spine and shoulder blade. I got him in the Oct. muzzy season, he was probably shot in early Sept.?

Nice bull! I agree with 1bowhunter, bad shot. Quartering towards you is not a good percentage shot. To easy to miss both lungs and just get guts. Thanks for sharing.

Nice bull!!! I shot a doe one year and when skinning her out I found a 22 bullet stuck to a rib on her right side, didn't break the bone but was stuck on it.

Thanks for the update on the wound and your assessment of shot placement.

When I saw the initial picture pulling the arrow shaft out of the body cavity it appeared that the shot would have been from the ground and the animal quartering hard toward or almost facing the hunter; bad choice on the part of the hunter.

However with the animal being hit at a downward angle as you describe, probably from a tree stand, the assumption that I and others on here made based on the little information available was incorrect....

Does it remain a BAD shot? Yes. Was there more for us to gain having not seen the wound and arrow path? I think so. These are big tough animals and the more we keep in mind their anatomy and our shot selections the more we can avoid not getting the quick clean kill that they deserve and we all strive for.
