Congrats, looks cold and wet, I am guessing you didn't call the "hot shorts" packer for help.

Should be good eaten, probably be enough there to have Plat make you some peperoni sticks.  :chuckle:

Man what a year of hunting! I truly gave it my all and had success from putting in boot miles.

So saturday the opener of elk was rainy and wet, Like wetside hunting.  With a cow tag in my pocket I left my honey holes alone and chased spikes around other parts of the mountain. Had my chance on a spike on monday and blew a decent shot with very little time with my trusty .32 winchester special.  opener of cow rolls around and the elk had vanished!!! So I decide to wait until friday to hit the honey holes, my buddy had shot at two spikes and another friend had a spike at 20 yards and was in buck fever mode bad!!!! female 2nd year hunting. we gave her a good razzzing and just let it be...

Friday rolls around and it honey hole time, I have only taken a few people in there, Coach being one looking for big nasty.. I take my buddy jeff in to the honey hole. Now when elk are on the run they go to the nasty blow down dark dark timber. This is the case every year, you know the spot no one else wants to hunt. Steep and deep..

we spend all day in there and we can hear elk all around but no shots. at around 5:00 pm we are headed up and my buddy jeff is on point, couple yards in front of me and we are climbing up a steep log infested slope when all of a sudden 5 cows run out about 50 yards in front of us but with the fog and rain and timber jeff dont see them!!! I go to raise my .300 RUM and jeff is right in the line of fire, I say. "jeff move!" He dont hear me and I yell,  "JEFF get the @#$% out of my way! he turns and is in shock as my rifle is coming up in the Im gonna shoot something mode, he goes to the side and falls on his butt and the elk begin to pick up speed like 0-60 in .3 seconds, I pick the lead cow and BOOOOOMMM  she dont even flinch, complete miss, I run about 15 feet and watch as the lead cow comes through a small opening and raise my rifle and wait on the last cow to come through, BOOM! 75 yard shot through nasty blow downs and on the run and my cow is down!!!!    mean while jeff is looking at me like I am crazy! HE says, WOW you knocked her on her butt on the run!   perfect behind the shoulder shot and she instantly hit dirt..

no crap, we started singing that song, ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK THE WORLD STOPS TURNING at the top of our lungs!!  ha ha success and with a good friend!!!

GETSUM, and no Coach was not around to help me quarter and pack it out to the road... :chuckle:

we seen probably 100 elk through the season and they were all in hell holes!!  if your not seeing elk get into the thickest nastiest place you can find and I promise you will find these elk...

GETSUM....................................

I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.
