My new rifle
« on: November 08, 2014, 12:05:03 PM »
I just picked up this Winchester 1886 light rifle in 45-70 at the Tacoma dome gun show this morning. I was after a Winchester or Browning High wall or low wall but this had to come home with me. :IBCOOL:

Nope....but I know they are garbage!!  If you need help getting rid of it before 594 kicks in next month let me know.  I can help you off load it, though you will probably take a little hit with the price.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

It is a beautiful gun and an even better caliber.  My marlin XLR in 45/70 is a 300 yard gun all day long and is my go to gun for bear.  Are you going to keep it open site or scope it?

I will probably leave it open sites for a while but I thought about getting it drilled and tapped for a scout style scope since it isn't set up for any type of optics.

Anyone else have one of these rifles?

I do.  COAL has to be kept pretty short so the cartridge can feed.  Really like my 325gr load.  KICKS LIKE A MULE.
