What is cold calling?
« on: November 21, 2014, 04:45:22 PM »
I have heard this term numerous times in the last couple months But do not know what it is exactly.

               WHAT IS COLD CALLING?  :dunno:

Calling blindly...like using a locator or cow calling not knowing if there is any critters around.

:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

It's not a lot of fun and not all that productive for me. Especially when Copenhagen gums up the reed and the spit collects then freezes up. Hard to get any decent sound out of a reed call when that happens.

...Or it probably means as stated ^^^.

Nope, cow call works for everything. A locator bugle will most likely be answered by a bull who is bigger than a spike, and obviously cows won't answer.

Works well, takes patience. Killed one of our three Wyoming bulls with a "blind set up" cow calling likley spots with the decoy set up....nice 5x5 20 yards.

If you're close enough to the bunch.... The cows and spikes and a lot of smaller Bulls will just sneak in on you to take a look.

Lot of variables there. This site is a great resource. I'd suggest going through some older threads and take part in Elknut1's dvd giveaway contests or just buy a copy. Good luck
