Lacey backyard blacktail

 A couple of weeks ago my dad calls and tells me that he has had a "pretty good" buck that was chasing does in their backyard. So on thanksgiving he shows me a picture.  I guess when he says they have a pretty good buck in the back I should pay more attention.

I'm sure this i nowhere near where that buck is but this summer while I was hauling cows home from the Thurston County Fair I saw a very similar buck in velvet on Mullen Road near Pattison Lake.  I almost had to dynamite my brakes (with 5 cows in the back) to avoid hitting him.  There are quite a few really nice bucks in Lacey, Hawk's Prairie and especially out on Cooper Point!

This guy is an educated St. Martins University buck taken in July of this year.  I see him cross the street but no camera around when he does. Notice the fence which is there to keep him in on the campus though he is cutting through and chasing the neighborhood does around.

that looks like the fence they put up along bowker st?  i grew up there(parents still live there) and i used to see a lot of nice ones in what used to be a big pear orchard behind their place.

there was once a big guy that lived in the woods along lois lake, i'd see him down there a lot when i went fishing there as a kid.

I wish I could've got a pic of the buck I seen in Tumwater, while out on route late September. Hands down, the biggest wa blacktail I've seen...outside of ocean shores.

There are many monster Black Tail bucks living within the Thurston county area, most live within the no shooting zones. I have seen them several times, they rub on fir trees the size (8 to 10 inch) of the ones elk rub on, unbelievable when you see them. Drive around during the rut from 8:00 to 10:00 PM and they come out of their hiding hole.

Sharp eye there BGT. Plenty of big bucks in that area.
