Long bow help

Hey gang,
I'm really wanting to make a longbow for hunting someday and range shooting. I shoot a compound now, but really want to get into more traditional archery. Is there a kit that would help me build my first bow? I'd like it to be hunt worthy (after much practice of course)! Thanks for any advise or insite y'all might have?

Check out Binghams. They have been around for a long time specializing in bow kits both longbow and recurve. You can get everything there from bow presses, adhesives, wood and glass laminations, even specifications to result in the draw length and weight you are looking for. www.binghamprojects.com/categories.php.

Just find a nice strait log and remove the wood you don't need.  Seriously though. I've been just starting out the last couple years. Might sound stupid but you can learn a lot from youtube. You have to weed out the unprofessional videos but there are some good ones. Look up master bow builder. It's a good series of videos lots of great tips. I believe the guy has a website that he sells starter kits and all kinds of trad archery equipment. I'm working on my 7th bow now. I've made several mistakes along the way but it's been fun learning. I hope to take my first animal with a longbow I've made this next year. Good luck to you.

Jay's classes are highly recommended!  You won't be building a laminated target bow, but the lessons learned will be useful in anything you decide to do.  The Bingham kits are a great way to get started without much of a hit to you wallet.  But, I'd still try to get you to sign up for one of Jay's classes.

Dave Robertson also helps folks make self bows and the Traditional Bowhunters of WA has a ( self bow building class )once a year

Thanks guys for all the info.. I'll check out the web sites and look around. With my crazy work schedule, I doubt I'd be able to comit to a class, so I'll be going it solo.
