Wondering if anyone here has experience on the blm lands around Odessa and up to, and including Swanson Lake Refuge ?

My sense is that there are some huns in the area.

Otherwise, ducks on the ponds before freeze up.

I have never hunted the area, but have fished all over the area.  Never felt the need to return with my shotgun.  It is a long drive for me from Wenatchee.

FYI, Swanson Lakes is a WDFW Wildlife Area not a refuge. An early October hunt resulted in Huns for my wife and I. The population was definitely UP from past years. Swanson Lakes and the nearby ponds were bone dry due to the long drought. I heavily suggest a stop M-F at the Wildlife Area main office; the manager, Juli Anderson is doing a super job and is extremely helpful. The  WDFW website has a map and info., too.

Twin Lakes, South of Swanson Lakes is managed by the BLM and is hunt able for Huns. The only refuge is around Coffee Pot Lake.
