First chance to trap - beaver
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:49:36 PM »
I've been offered a chance to trap some beavers to stop them destroying a friend's stream and trees.

This will be my first trapping experience.

I am adept at building cages using wire, j-clips, etc., so would like to build the traps I'll use.

Does anyone have advice for designs, trap sizes, or sets they'd like to offer?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I saw those at trapper's ed, I believe. Do you have a preferred size for beaver? (H X W X L)?

I'm planning to use 1"X1" 14g wire, framing with 1/4" bar stock at the ends. Does that sound right?

Take a look at this thread  http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,120368.0.html

I have some pictures of how my traps are designed on it.
Old design. One of these days I'll show off the new design.
