National Forest Permit?
« on: December 09, 2014, 09:33:50 PM »
Hey guys, hope everyone I having a great holiday season!

I feel like this is a dumb question but what permit do you need to buy to hunt on National Forest lands in WA? I can't seem to find 100% confirmation anywhere, I have searched on Google and gone through various websites that hint at an answer but don't really give me one, I know that you are allowed to hunt in them but I can't find mention of whether or not you need to buy some kind of permit for it, all I can find is permits for wood harvest or mushroom or the like, nothing specifically for hunting. And I just want to be 100% sure. Because my lil just isn't good enough to risk it on an "im pretty sure it's ok".

Again I feel dumb for having to ask but do you need a permit for hunting in a National Forest in WA?

No permit needed!

Unless you are parked at one of the designated Wilderness Area trailheads, then you need the Forest Pass.  But for most of the national forest, you are free to roam.

Of course, you still need the applicable State hunting license and tag, depending on what you're hunting.

No permit needed.

If you are going to park at established trail heads, campgrounds , improved areas you might need a Forest Pass.

But just hunting no permit is needed. Just your state license and tags.

I camp every year in a remote camp on National forest. No fees ,no pass.

If you are DNR lands you might need discover pass.

Also worth mentioning, most of the trailheads I've seen offer a drop box where you may pay by the day if you do not buy a Forest Pass.
