Overturn594.com has started a letter writing campaign. In order to ramp up to bigger recipients the first one is for an assemblymember in New York that is a proponent of gun control. The date is set for tomorrow to get as many letters out as we can. So far there are a couple hundred promised to mail out. Lets make it thousands if we can.
In an effort to get more people vocal about telling their government what they want and to make it clear a letter writing campaign has begun. One a set date everyone mails in their letter to the appointed recipient in hopes of making a point. If one million letters arrive in one day perhaps then they will get the message that we have had enough.
This doesn't matter if you support open carry, concealed carry, long guns, pistols, or any other facet of firearm use or ownership. If you support your rights to firearms this is a way to help send a message.
All you have to do is copy and paste the letter into your favorite word management program like Microsoft Word or Notepad. Put your name and address on it, or don't, its up to you. If you don't want to then just delete the part for the name. Sign it and stuff it in an envelope with the recipients address. Mail it off.
We have to start working together and become more vocal and vigilant in maintaining our rights over firearm ownership. It is clear that the anti gun folks are organized and stand together. Its time we did the same thing and put our differences aside and become proactive.

Dear Assemblymember Kavanagh:
I have been made aware that you head a group of legislators seeking to expand gun control. While I applaud your cause to curb violence, I am opposed to any further efforts to erode my rights as a gun owner. Too many vocal anti-gun groups have created discord with their efforts which are not only ineffective, but when implemented, punitive against our legal rights. In addition, any laws passed have proven that while disarming our citizenry, gun crime actually increases (fact based on law enforcement statistics).
The facts are that gun crime has actually dropped significantly nationwide. Not via onerous gun laws but by an increase in gun ownership. Your average citizen is no longer a “victim” in states where gun ownership is more common and have proven that an “armed citizenry is a safe citizenry”. States such as NY, Ill, California and Washington D.C. have the toughest gun laws in the nation yet they have the highest crime rate.
If you truly have a goal of promoting gun safety, do not make attempts to ban guns. Instead, promote education and awareness programs for our youth. Enforce existing gun crime laws and leave honest citizens to their rights. Add punitive punishments to crimes committed with firearms.
These efforts you lead further erode our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Many men and women have given their all protecting our rights. Do not further diminish our Constitutional rights with expedient and poorly thought out reactions by treating gun owners preemptively as criminals.
Thank you for your time and I hope you can see I truly want the same as you: gun safety but disagree 100% on your mechanics.
Sincerely,
