Poor Customer Service?
« on: December 22, 2008, 06:11:24 PM »
Well, I bought a new Browning today from Tri-state in Moses Lake. I decided to put the scope and mount on at the store as they have the tools. The store was very busy, so I did the work my self, like I prefer. While placeng the rear mount (Leupold) I noticed one of the screws did not lock down. It felt fine screwing in, but would not tighten. Well, it would not back out eather. I explained this to the man behind the counter, and he tried to remove the screw as well, no luck. I asked, what now? He said that I had bought the gun and they no longer have any ties to it. I asked about shipping it to Browning to have it re tapped or just plain fixed. He said not our problem. I did stay calm >:( , after spending $700 on a new rifle and no support. I had not even left the store! The employee gave me a number of a gun smith in Moses Lake, his name is Carl. Well he fixed the rifle in no time for free, and I am now happy with my new rifle. But I am not happy with the service I received at Tri-state. Maybe the salesmen was right, but after dropping that kinda money, I sure wanted more from him. Maybe he is on this site, not sure. But I will think hard before giving Tri-state any more business.

It wouldn't have been worth shipping it back to Browning for something as simple as that. What you ended up doing was probably the easiest and best solution.

I have hunted with a wood stock Weatherby for many years now. I really like that gun, but feel bad putting it on the ATV gun rack having bounce around all day. So I bought this A bolt composite stalk rifle. It is a .270 win. Gonna use 140 Nosler accu bond bullets for deer and elk. I think 55gr of RL-19, must confirm in Nosler manual. Firefighter4607 and his family all shoot Browning A Bolts, and so I wanted to fit in :chuckle:.

Well, I talked to the Manager of Tri-State. She was very nice and eager to do what ever it took to make me feel like a valued customer. She offered to repay any Gunsmith fees, and I explained there was none, but I did donate $10 for his time, she said she will pay that back to me. Anyway, all is well now, and I will deal with her in the future on any gun purchases.

I'm glad you made contact with the manager and got a good response. Shop owners can't fix a problem if they don't know about it and it sounds as if the problem will be FIXED. :chuckle:
