Coyote hunting areas

I'm fairly new to Washington (just got stationed here about a year ago) and am looking for some good coyote hunting areas in the Tacoma or Olympia area.
I finally got my .223 and am itching for a yoter dog.  Any help would be great.  I'm also new to this forum, so forgive me if I'm doing this all "newby" like.

Not sure if you can predator hunt on base, but some milrez areas near Yelm hold lots of yotes.

I'm trying to stay away from base.
Is Skookumchuck a good area to hunt?

I would hunt where the coyotes are.

I don't know of anyone that will tell you where their good coyote hunting spots are because it doesn't take a lot to educate coyotes or have the spot over run with hunters.

That said there aren't many places in West Wa. that doesn't have coyotes get yourself a copy of the Wa. State Atlas and Gazetteer, any public lands maps and lumber company maps and just get out and hunt.  Learn the rules concerning public and private lands and the game rules.

I just took a big loopy trip from Oly to Bay Center to West Port to Elma on the back roads and just about everywhere I stopped there was coyote crap within a quick walk of the truck.

You might want to look into the WA. Predator Hunters Assc. or try and hook up with one of the local predator hunters.

Thanks!  Didn't mean to sound like I was trying to take anyone's spot.  Never been in Washington before this and just trying to figure out the hunting here.
It's a lot different than back home.

Lots of the Skook is private timberland requiring an access pass for most of the year. The public areas will be hit pretty hard. Capitol Forest is a state land, but very tough to hunt. 

I am serious when I say, if possible, hunt the base. Lots of coyotes and much less pressure.

Weyerhaeuser's Vail tree farm should be open for walk in hunting after January 31st. Just be sure to check on Weyerhaeuser's website first. Should be plenty of coyotes out there, and bobcats too. Don't shoot a cougar if you see one, they shut down the cougar season early in that unit.

So where ya from and how long you been dog huntin? Just read where department of jokes and games has a $20,000 reward for information about a wolf killed south of you in salmon /lasac. So they have migrated to your neck of the woods so becarful is all I'm saying. Know your target. A lot of tree hugger save the worldtype over there that I could see pointing a finger at a predator hunter just because we hunt dogs. Just trying ta help out a fellow hunter on the huggy side of a good state....

I'm from southern Nevada, in Clark county.
I'm not too overly concerned about the libs here.  They can point fingers all they want, it's all they're good for.
I'm pretty good and reading and following the rules when it comes to hunting.  Thank you though for the heads up.  I'll make sure to keep it in mind.
