Finally something other than widgeon
« on: January 03, 2015, 07:19:49 PM »
Finally something else but widgeon!

After epic battles with tornados of widgeon ( no casualtys on our side yet) it  was nice to see some green today, in our spot,  no pintails yet, anyone else notice a lack of pintails in the skagit
valley?odd for this time of year.

mallards came in first light then disappeared, & we waged war against hords of bald plates, finished our limit  & watched the widgeon dump into the field & all the sudden around a little after 9:00 their all the mallards are, walking around in the full body's.

Hope the pintails show up soon.

Been seeing the same thing in Whatcom. Doing work on the wigeon, and not seeing as many pins as years previous. Hoping for a green January!

Been seeing lots of pintails in Skagit.  We shot our limits of nice drakes this morning.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Great problem to have though. Lower Columbia and Willapa both seem void of the wigeon hordes this past week. Mallards took over. Go figure

We are in spots all over & have put the hurt on mallards & pins other places, but in our fields right off the bays in the skagit usally this time of year u can't keep them out of the spread, as far as widgeon we are probably close to the 100 mark on the w side the east side seems to be void of em on our streached of the river
