« on: January 08, 2015, 06:26:02 AM »
Doe's anyone one here own one? I have heard that with the right ammo that they perform well in 308 ... I'm only interested if the sub moa claim is legit. the thought of a sub six pound system really tickles my fancy .

Coach, a friend just got one in 270. If you can wait a while, I can give you better data once we work up a load and shoot. Add me as friend and I will stay in touch...

I’m following this thread, and have no experience with or an opinion on the Kimber. My suspicion is that you will not be able to adequately answer the question of “is this an MOA rifle?” because it involves not only the rifle but the ammunition and shooter. Even if someone else reports that “my Mountain Ascent” shoots MOA, there’s no guarantee that another one will.

Conversely, someone may post that his KMA does not shoot well, but that could be due to many factors and not a reflection of what you would experience.

I believe that most rifles can be made to shoot plus/minus MOA for three shot groups, but it can be more challenging with light barrels.

I have read where the Kimber ma likes lighter bullets and the barnes 150ttsx is the go to factory round , proper cleaning  break in grip and trigger pull have a huge factor , lightweight can be tricky.

I don't know about the MA but love my 8400 and if the MA is like other Kimbers then it should shoot pretty well.

Good point :sry:  Disregard what I said earlier coach, you already have your lightweight .270, you don't need another ultralight.  Plus that MA is a .308 and wouldn't be able to kill a 400" bull anyways :peep:

Don't worry I have a small raffle budget and if I get a ma you can borrow it karl. I'm getting to old for hi altitudes.what you do t understand is I'd be selling two to get one so it's not the cost except for the ziess glass of course  it would have to match.

Well after reading many reviews and fondling some nice rifles I chose a cooper 52 fluted synthetic in 280ackley. The fit and finish was supure compared to the kimber ma. The natural  feel of shouldering this weapon just felt right. The super light kimber just felt like it would be hard to shoot well. The test target on a un broken in barrel  is one jagged hole. I just felt that I'd never get the ma to shoot like the cooper. Being used to packing  12 lbs rifle round  7 seems  pretty nice while not compromising accuaracy. Ended up selling a light with mark five and a blr. But ended up with a do it all rifle.  Now to go scope shopping !
