80/20 or maybe 90/10
« on: January 09, 2015, 10:55:46 PM »
A little browsing at cabelas today. Couldn't believe the lack of revolvers . At least 80-90 % semi's. Hadn't really given it much thought but is that what everyone is buying these days. I was shocked at the lack of selection of revolvers

My next few will likely be revolvers. Probably a .44 mag and maybe a 4" .357. Not sure how large to go with the .44. I had a 8" on my old Dan Wesson and it was a freaking tack driver but a beastly thing to weild around.

I've been to four different shops recently, all with large inventories of handguns. Autos easily make up 90% or more of their inventories. And I was looking for a revolver.

My revolvers have been spending more and more time in the safe to. There aren't any critters around here that make me want to pack the .454 and it makes an expensive paper puncher. Things like my .357 (that used to be carried a lot) got replaced by a 10mm simply because for the same size gun I ended up with more capacity and a hotter round.

I guess I'm on the other end of the spectrum; sold off the semi's a couple months ago and picked up some revolvers. Double eagle has one of the bigger selections of revolvers that I've seen. Picked up a brand new Ruger Match Champion 357 from there and a new 629 classic 44 mag and another sp101 from white elephant because the wife commandeered my original.

I would guess the gun stores that I frequent are more like 70-30,  maybe that's why I frequent them?

of course if they were 90-10 these things might quit following me home like the one today did:
