Got my first wood duck today!! Could anyone point me in the right direction for a good bird taxidermist within an hour or so from Tenino?

Leon is working on my 8th bird by him. I would suggest him. Many people make trips over from the west side to drop off birds for him to do. He did my Woodie in the classic wood duck pose, standing.

Also, congrats on the bird!! It's always a great feeling getting your first of a bird.

Here is a quick picture I found. Can get better ones if you'd like for reference or more detail to see his work.

If you want the best job period, then send it here....

http://www.birdmanstudios.com/index.html

Todd has done all of my birds, and all of my hunting buddies. His pricing is extremely competitive and he is truly an artist.

Funny but I was just talking with my hunting buddy about woodies. We are both from the midwest, and I used to love to hunt them in the early season in flooded oak tress. Its the one duck I never got around to getting mounted. Wish I had.

Within an hour I would say without a doubt peters taxidermy in graham. We've had a ton of birds done there. Including two woodies. And I just sent another woodie there to get mounted the other day.

I have used birdman as well and Leon's next to Todd's look just as good. The problem with sending to Todd at birdman is the ridiculous shipping there and back. Can not go wrong with either one.

Yep.... He does excellent work. I don't think the shipping is that bad. I ship via USPS Priority Mail, and have never had a problem. Here's my Harli......

There's probably a good taxidermist near Tenino, but if you wanted to ship the bird to Leon Mathews I can personally vouch for his work, it is very very good. I'm not sure I want to count up how many birds Leon has done for me and my sons, I might start to question why I have two more in his shop right now.  Looking at internet pics I've always been impressed with Birdman Studios as well.

These are mine from Peters Taxidermy in Graham from last year.   This is my first bird mount and I am happy with it.  Good people to work with also.

But I don't know why it came up sideways.   Looks better in the upright position.   lol

Tealer and Coastie- Really dig those mounts with the hens in the nest. Thanks for sharing.
