Look what we found on opening day of Elk season
« on: December 25, 2008, 08:01:35 PM »
Went Elk hunting with a friend on the westside (St Helens Area) this year for the fist time and came across this.

Here is the short story what happened.

Sitting at our morning stand we heard a crash, than a person came over the radio calling for help. We went and found them (we knew they were close by hearing the crash). they were lost, it was dark and they were on the wrong road looking for the rest of there party, The driver said something got stuck on the pedal (gas or brake, not sure) and could not stop, they were on a steep narrow muddy road, the truck went in the ditch to the right, the driver over corrected, side swiped a tree, than hit another tree head on 9as you can see). The impact was hard that the back of the truck lifted up and moved up and over about 45 degrees (driver-female, passenger-male).

The driver was OK just a little shaken up (the air bag deployed) the passenger kissed the windshield. We asked if he was all right, he was not sure. the driver was only concerned with finding the rest of there hunting party. we offered to call the sheriff and the paramedic's but they did not want that. Others in there party were there so we told them to get them to the hospital, but they were reluctant (they probably did not want to miss the opener). We left them to them selves and went back to the morning hunt. We thought we had them convinced to get them to the hospital until we saw them driving around for about 2 hours looking for the rest of there party, calling for them on the radio.

The truck was still there the following weekend, still wrapped around the tree.

That's wild. My initial thought was that the truck was probably "Hot" and that was more the reason for not involving the authorities. Pretty sure of it if it was there the following weekend. Either that or the chick caught her hubby cheating and took his truck out for a spin... :chuckle:

I my not of read it, but did anyone report the plate number to the state patrol?  Obviously not or that truck wouldn't be there after a week!!!  Give me the pick with the plate number in it if you have one.  Insurance fraud is BS.
Work sucks!!!! I should be shed hunting
