Awesome Last Hunt DIY
« on: January 23, 2015, 06:45:16 PM »
Went out MLK weekend for my last hunt of the season and cleaned up pretty good!!! 44 ducks 2 days 5 man hunt the first day and 3 man the second. First day we got to our wdfw hunt spot to see if it was full  at 2:00 and sure enough it was full but no sweat we have another spot that holds birds consistently just not the numbers we thought  :yike: walked in a mile and a half and setup on this side lake because the main one was frozen still and went halfway through the day and only 2 birds. we were looking behind us and there were constant birds bombing into this hole in the ice about 1/2 mile away so finally at lunch time we make the trek over, setup, and start wackin!!! all day just birds piling into our spot. we were only getting a fraction of these birds coming off this PUBLIC field that we walked past on the way in. in total we must have seen 3000 birds hit the field. anyway we got 32 the first day and 12 the second. Could have shot limits but forgot extra boxes of shells so only had for sure shots which was hard to do with these late season birds to within 25 yards or they would land on the ice and the dogs didn't like breaking ice either! would go back this weekend but dont have the 400 bucks to do it. And my first 2 drake pintails and my first ever golden eye in my 8 years of hunting!
