Wanda plastic hull help
« on: January 31, 2015, 04:53:40 PM »
I just scored a bunch of old wanda 2 3/8 plastic hulls.  I can not find any load data online.  Do any of you oldtimers have recipes that I could get from you?

Seth is on the money 2 3/8th is correct for this old hull as well as most 2 3/4. The hull will measure 2 3/4 after firing and the crimp extends.
I don't think you'll find any reloading data on the WANDA hulls, like my Active hulls I like. I'm not an expert by all means but I would start with a mild load of powder and a 1 1/8 wad and shot. The tricky thing would how to contain the shot, they came with a 3/8" over shot wad that was rolled crimped in. I would suggest looking at what Ballistic Products has to roll crimp in a 3/8 overshot card.

+1 for ballistic products. May even want to email BP. They may have some data for you in the archives :dunno:  I never seen 2 3/8. Learn something new every day

BPI told me not to load them as they were not made after 1971.  They are also not keyed for 209 primers, and they highly recommended I dispose of them as plastic becomes brittle over the years and would not be safe to shoot. :bash:

 :yeah: :bdid:

I have a box of them too, were in with my grandpas stuff... They look cool, but something tells me even if you could reload them, they would be pretty low dose
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I still think they still could be reloaded with a mild load. The loaded one I have in my hands right now are a hot load 3 3/4 drams of powder pushing an 1 1/4 oz of #7 1/2s. All my target loads I buy or reload are 3 dram max
