Picking my concealed

I think I finally found the concealed weapon I want. Nice and compact, great for out in the field, big enough to take down a cougar.  Now is it too big for a bobcat?  Will it ruin the pelt? What do you guys think? The only thing I don't like about it is there is no safety.

Run 50 yards, whip out yer gun and shoot at a bullseye, 4 inch max, at 10 yards. I predict you will rethink your carry gun. Ever heard the term "belly gun"? it is hard to hit a target with a little gun under stress.

Not sure you need to hide your gun from a cougar or bobcat.

Nice choice, I am picking up a XD Mod 2 in 40 S&W this week. They do have safety backstrap safety like a 1911 and the trigger both have to be depressed to fire.

I understand that is the safety but I don't like it.  I'm still wondering if it would blow a bobcat pelt to none taxidermy possibilities or not.

well lets face it a 45 is a 45 regardless of whether it is out of an XDM or this have to be up close and personal size shooter

A lot of it has to do with ammo choice. If you are packing hollow points or a expanding bullet it can make a mess of small critters. Fmj won't be to bad unless you shoot them in the shoulder or heavy bone.

A 40 will work fine on cougar. Cats are not as hard to kill as a animal like a bear. i have shot one bobcat with a 40 and it did not destroy it but did mess it up a little more then i would have liked.

Concealed carry and field guns are two different beasts. This one is a great CCW, but not the best option for the field unless you only plan on using once you tackle tat bobcat or cougar.

Thanks all.  I'm thinking I will lean more towards a field carry instead of a concealed after all your comments.

  take a look at the sp 101 in 38 and 357.  an excellent concealed carry.  I have a sig 938 in 9 mm weighing 15 oz.  got it on gunbroker for $500.   mike w
