2014 Cali fishing
« on: February 10, 2015, 04:56:17 PM »
Here's a few pics from fishing down here in California.  We did pretty well on Lings this year, not that great on Salmon.

Here's the only halibut for the year.  Caught it while letting some crab pots soak.

Nice fish.  Did you eat the Thresher?  If so, was it good?

Yes.  It was alright...different from anything else I've ever had, but not in a bad way.

:chuckle:  I made sure it was dead before I held it for the picture.  It's more the tail that will get you than the teeth on the threshers.

Dang! You don't screw around down there! Does a California  halibut taste any different than  a pacific halibut?

And that's not even a really big one.   :chuckle:

Did you grill it as steaks? I like shark, never had Thresher, but there are much better fish out there, like all those salmon, and the lings.

Yes, we cut it into steaks and grilled a bunch of it that night.  Nothing better than a fresh ling over the charcoal when you get in from a long day fishing.

Just a couple more months and it will start all over.
