Does Mange from Coyotes cross over to other fur bearing animals or just canines?
Ive shot some ugly coyotes but that looks like one step above a hairless dog!

Too bad it doesn't get cold enough to kill them when they are in that bad of a state.
Poor nasty creature.

Wow, I don't know if I've ever seen one that nasty looking in the winter. I'm guessing he's not got long to live, if he's still alive.

Oh it's been in the single digits, which I gotta think killed this fella, or he might have gotten so bad he ran out into traffic.

If you want a full meal deal on mange mites on coyotes, check out Evan Wilson's 2012 masters thesis. Over a hundred pages. For a picture look on Wikipedia. The mites are tiny little monsters living in the upper layers of the skin, including yours. Some research suggests we gave them to canids. Check out a recent National Geographic for some amazing pictures and more facts than you want to read.
Very common, very invasive.

The poor thing reminds me of one of those zombies I've seen on TV shows. Makes me think of the walking dead. I've never seen an animal that bad off that's still alive. I agree - it needs to be put out of its misery.

If you do kill it..I believe your supposed to burn for disposal as it can be spread. I think it can be spread through the animals feces as well. A buddy of mine killed one like that out of Ione.

Yea they pass it along by contact. I'm pretty sure this one did not make it long after this photo, we hit negative temps and well below wind chill temps. Probably did not survive those temps.
