interesting article from PA.  Though it says no official link, they have banned (in areas) use of scent urines and are considering expanding the ban as a precaution in areas not showing CWD. The article cites no controls for manufacture/bottling/testing of deer used.

Sounds like half-baked science - a shot gun approach to managing a disease they don't understand.  Perhaos they should have hunters cut off the hooves of harvested deer and leave them in the field to further contaminate any remaining health animals.  It works wonders for Elk hoof rot.   :dunno:

I only skimmed the subject article last night.  Tonight, while waiting for Jimmy Fallon, I read the Wiki article on prions (quickly scanned it, actually).  Perhaps there is apparently, at least a bit of concern regarding the use of urine that may contain prions if it comes from animals that are not proven to be healthy.  It may be a very long time before the issue of prions causing disease is understood.  If you want some guaranteed anti-insomnia reading material, the link is:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prion

Just curious, does anybody know if CWD was a problem prior to the widespread use of deer urine.  Memory tells me that it was first described somewhere in the mid-west.

Fallon's on - gotta go!
