You can't save money by only buying the multi season tag for $140 because you still need to buy the deer license to go along with it. What you need to remember is that when you purchase a deer license, you get the tag for free.

Tag comes with the multi season permit too.

No matter what you do, you need to buy a deer license.
so I have been doing it right?I think I was second guessing myself as I spend so much on this state already.
You have not paid more by selecting your (free) deer tag when purchasing a license, but you create extra work to exchange it later for a multiseason pemit and tag if you go that route.
:yeah: I did it once. Pain in the butt. Now I never declare a weapon until after the multi season is drawn.

It's actually not that difficult. I haven't done it for the multi season tag, but I did exchange an archery deer tag for modern firearm, and it's the same process. You just need to go to a license dealer Monday through Friday, between 8:00 and about 4:00. The dealer has to call the WDFW in Olympia so your current tag can be deleted from the system, and only then will the license dealer be able to sell you your new multi-season tag. Also make sure you have the tag with you, since that needs to be turned in when they issue the new tag.

If I recall you also need to do that before your current tag's season starts?  Should not be an issue if paying attention to draw results, but just in case..  So don't wait until Sept 10th to try and turn your archery tag in to get your multiseason, you may end up paying for both...

Last year I bought my multiseason tag at the last minute. Tried to give the lady at Fred Meyer my MF tag in exchange for my multiseason tag and she wouldn't take it. Told me I needed to keep it. I went back and forth with her a bit and then just walked away with 2 transport tags. Emailed WDFW and told them they might need to review the process with their dealers.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
