Weather expectations in Wyoming back country

Gonna be in the back country (wyoming) in the teton mountains in the NF for 15+ days in September for elk. Should I expect a lot of rain? I know weather can be unpredictable but should I be ready to have 2 sets of rain gear. Or should 1 good set be fine. (Sitka cold front) gonna be 8,000-11,000 ft elevation so I figured I would ask some guys on here that may have been over there. I'm prepared for the conditions like we do here. Mostly dry weather but the occasional storm. The Sitka 90%, ascent, traverse, cold front, all the base layers. As well as kuiu attack pants, guide jacket, some base layers in kuiu also. But only have one good waterproof set. The Sitka cold front. Should that be good enough or should I buy another set for a backup. Again this is the second half of september chasing elk in the back county. Thanks guys

I haven't been in the Tetons in September but I was in the Bighorns @ 9,000'+ in October. It was in the low 30s most of the day and occasional winds were tolerable if not annoying. We got lucky I guess with the weather. It had snowed in late September but not at all while we were there. We wore lots of layers and no cotton. Definitely better to have an not need than to need and not have some quality rain gear.

Definitely better to have an not need than to need and not have some quality rain gear.

Yea it's gonna be a blast and we can't wait. I just figured I would throw up a bone and see if anyone has been there to give advise. I'm totally set on layering with all the Sitka and Kuiu. I can handle the freezing cold lol it's when it starts to get wet. I can always pack out to base camp and dry clothes too. but I guess the question is... Should I expect a couple day long downpour or just typical rain to where one set should be okay as long as I have a way to dry them if I needed too. Lol

I've been in that country in late August(fishing) and had it snow on us!  Gotta plan for the worst and hope for the best.  Not so much your daytime clothes as much as your nighttime/camping gear. Not hard to stay dry and warm during the day, but waking up to a foot of snow after a days rain can be murder on your gear if you haven't planned accordingly. Don't know if your being packed in or going in on your own, but even some of the packers don't really prepare properly for a cold onset that early.  Beautiful country, wish I was going.

I've been there mid-Sept on two different hunts and expect to be back this year.

On both previous hunts I encountered blue bird skies, cool at night (right around freezing) and hot during the day (80 degrees).

Lots and lots of game - elk, deer, moose and two wolves.

We hunted in are t-shirts all one day lite rain that evening tents collapsed at 3am
and pulled camp the next day cause the horses were pushing snow up to there chest that was the same year that a couple hunter died cause of the storm so be prepared be safe and have fun

Figure for the worst . We went to bed one night at 75 degrees and woke to 13 and snow .  Two set of good  long Johns and two to three changes  of clothes . One good set of rain gear and a emergency poncho. Extra pair of hikers or crossfitting shoes , one good jacket and a wool shirt and vest . I love eccoficco  undies a few pairs and plenty of socks I stuff them in bow cases and gun cases , back pack tarp and towel. Make sure to throw a few heavy garbage bags in . Make sure you pack plenty of calories  and a life straw . Fire water and cover go along ways . Some of the best trips require a bit of survival ... have a blast .
