looking for a beach for perch fishing and family fun
« on: March 18, 2015, 08:08:12 AM »
Hello everyone I am looking for a beach that I can go surf perch fishing and also keep my family from being bored near Seattle or Everett. I will be heading over there around the first week of April and will have my fishing pole with me so I would really like to spend a day on the beach with at least a little chance of catching something besides a cold. Any help is appreciated as I am not looking for someone's honey hole just a place to have fun with my family, you can pm me with the information if you wish. Thanks to everyone for looking and I will post pics if I get a chance.

No idea if the fishing is good but hey.....you may be a bit limited for the area. The Edmonds waterfront has some nice places to eat, the dive park is nice to people watch, and if you walk up the beach, MAKE SURE YOU ARE WELL PAST THE DIVE PARK, there is a long stretch of beach that would only take a few minutes to walk to that you could do some casting. Also, the Edmonds fishing pier should be good for some jigging or maybe a few flounder.

Not much in the way of surf perch in those areas. Pile perch around the docks and piers but nothing like surf perch on the coastal beaches.
There's lots of family stuff to do though....what are they interested in doing?

If you want to drive a little north you could go to Kayak Point.  There is a nice park right on the beach.  Stuff for the kids to play on and a pier that I have seen people fish from.  Also a boat launch.  Not sure what kind of fish would be available this time of year off the pier.  Maybe some flat fish.

Kayak is fun. If crabbing is open we could always find a pot or two to lend out. There are perch along the pilings, flat fish, some rockfish, the occosion dogfish, and plenty of rocks to throw along the beach. Also, at Kayak, depending on the time of year the big Gray (I think they are grey) whales may come in and feed in the area. I've seen them right off the end of the pier.

Gray whales are migrating now and for the next couple months.
