Just think of it this way- next year your odds will be four times better than this year. That's all the points are good for, keeps people applying every year, so they can continue building points, and not drawing any permits. Although I did finally draw bighorn sheep last year, and that's a tougher draw than moose.
Actually, your odds will only be four times better than the guy who is putting in for the first time. Your actual odds of pulling a permit will probably go down compared to this year, unless lightning strikes and all of the moose permits go to max (or near-max) point holders and cleans the pool out. One 20 point holder getting taken out is the same as 440 first year guys getting taken out. Even then, I doubt there's enough permits available to actually slow down point creep... outside of the guy putting in for the second year (whose number of names in the hat increases 400% over the first year, a greater increase than any other group and likely enough to beat depreciation based on points creep) everybody's real odds of getting drawn are going down every year.

So i would guess its safe to say that goat and bighorn is worse draw odds than moose and i should most likely just start trying to build points and hope i draw before im too cripples to hunt them? Thanks for the info guys its been alot of help!

I like bobcat's "consider it a donation" outlook.  Based on the way things are going, more points don't necessarily mean better overall odds, it just means better odds against the guys with fewer points than you.  There is one guarantee - you won't ever pull the tag of you don't put in for it.

Yup it's pretty much just a donation.  I've been donating for 20 with elk, 11 years for deer and 16 years for moose, sheep and goat.  Our odds are terrible, what sucks is when you start getting a bunch of points you start thinking this is the year.  In reality, your odds are not much better.

You're the guy I always think of when this discussion comes up.  When you've got max points it means you've been disappointed the most.  You couldn't have been let down any more...

Max points = max pain ?

Yup, very painful.  The worst part is waiting all these years and having my youth just go away!  I will tell you this much, when I do eventually draw, I"M DONE!  I will still put in but only when I draw multi season permits. Ghost points are my future.

I think alot of bonus point draw systems are very flawwed like az a guy could pull a tag of a lifetime with no points or not pull an elk tag for a so so unit with max points. Sounds like it is the same up here. I still have 6 points in as for deer that i was trying to save up for a strip tag as a resident before i moved here. Guess ill be trying non resident odds now!

I don't believe there is a difference in Wa when it comes to resident or non resident draw odds.  Not enough nonresidents buy our tags to separate them from us.

That is correct. Odds are the same.
