Turkey Hunting with a bow

Where is the ideal shot placement on a turkey using standard fixed blade broadheads(muzzy)? I am thinking of trying it this year and am curious as to where the best placement would be(other than head shot).

I shot one right in the breast, thinking it would do the trick. He got up and flew down a canyon. I never did find it. Afterwards I was asking the same question and a lot of guys told me to shoot em in the back because it will disable their wings and get the vitals. so might try that, it makes sense.

just depends on the angle and what way the bird is facing.. this guy was broadside.. right in the middle of the chest/wing.....

Thanks guys for the help. I looked at the pic with the red circle and that is where i heard to shoot them as well. I heard to shoot just above the drum sticks (hips) that is where the vitals are located and it will disable their legs. Is the accuate about the vitals?

I read this before I shot mine. Hit him just above the beard at 10 yds, cartwheeled him, he jumped up, and flew down a canyon never to be seen again.

Was he in full strut. That shot looks like it would work if the tom was strutting but if he wasn't then you would miss the vitals. That is going off of the diagram i posted in my last reply.

watch out for the head on shot if u want to save the meat last seasion put a 40yrd shot on my tom next to his beard and it took out 3/4 of one breast and the rear legs it looked like i shot him with a shot gun slug.

He was in full strut. He gave my jack decoy a nasty look and then broke in full strut and moved up to my hen decoy. Decoy placement is important, use a Jake decoy and a hen. I use a hen decoy that is in the breeding postion, facing away from me. The tom will try a come in from behind her.
