3-D Archery Shoot in the Yakima Canyon - Mutton Buster
« on: April 17, 2015, 04:58:49 PM »
Hi guys,

I'll repost lots more info but we're putting on a 3-D Shoot in the Yakima Canyon on June 27th and August 15th.  For those that don't know me, I work at Red's Fly Shop and being a serious bowhunter we want to get a better local range going.  We do have an 8 target 3D course that you can shoot anytime for $10 right now just FYI.  That is a good deal for all you can shoot.

It will be a great shoot, the terrain is spectacular.  Here is the Event page with some basic info.  It will be 40+ targets, all for fun, one day only with some really fun shots.  There are lots of bluffs, little canyons, and some steep terrain to deal with.  A few of us local guys will be doing all the setup and we'll have very good targets.  Most of them will be brand new.  Please stay in touch using the Facebook event page if you can.

Sounds like fun. Bring the bow and the flyrod and make a weekend of it.

If only we could give out a sheep tag to the winner hahahahaha!  I'll bet the turnout would be in the tens of thousands!

Huh. Great idea. Hopefully we can make it over.

I just wanted to mention, stay tuned to this page https://www.facebook.com/events/1381220008872915/  for updates and more information.  I shot and hiked part of the course on Sunday and it is awesome.  Lots of "western" shots and I'll remind you 50 times to bring water on the course and good hiking boots.

We'll put this Ram out there at 59 yards "ish" for the compound shooters.  Probably about 35 for the traditional guys.

I'm super stoked for this!  I shot up there 4 or 5  times last summer and it was a blast!  This should be a really fun time!  Hope to see some huntwa brothers there!

Guys, another couple of updates.  We are going to have a couple of novelty shoots for some killer prizes.  Sitka Gear has sponsored a Jetstream Jacket and we'll be giving away a Bowtech for the best 5 card Poker hand at one of the novelty stations!  This will be good fun.  This is our first shoot and we want it to be successful, so please tell your friends as well and invite as many fellow bowhunters as you know.  We think it will be one of the best "open country" shoots out there.  For those that aren't familiar with the location, it is steep sage brush and basalt rimrock canyons.

There will be about 10-12 targets on Course A that are totally kid friendly.  You are welcome to double punch these if you want to bring the kiddo but the other courses might be a bit challenging.  You can always take her on Course B or C, she'll make it.  See how she does and then decide if you want to do the final leg.  For $25 I think it is worth coming out and seeing what you can get done.  This is a casual shoot, so don't sweat it if you have to skip around a bit.

Gonna be SMOKIN  hot!

It is, we're going to get people on and off the course early and make it efficient enough to get through in a couple of hours.  There will be good food, cold beer, cold sodas, available afterwards down at the restaurant.  Take a dip in the river after you come off the mountain!  We'll have water refill stations on the course as well.  It will be ok.

I'm beyond stoked for this shoot!!!!  Can we still come up and shoot any old time Joe, or do you have it closed off?

You will love the improvements we are making, this is going to be a solid "full time" range by the time we are done.  We built a great practice range and there will be 8-10 3-D's up there full time.  An annual membership will be $100, unlimited shooting.

Enjoyed your shoot. Had a lot of fun.
The shot on the Buck below the rimrock was cool. Almost straight down. Really gave you something to think about.
