Anyone else fish Pearrygin Lake opener? WORST EVER!!!
« on: April 28, 2015, 09:23:01 PM »
We have had our place there going on 48 years now (I was 4), in that time I cannot count how many opening days I have spent on that lake, and ALWAYS caught fish in fact can't remember not catching limits. For the last 8-10 years we have just fished off the shore with friends and neighbors ( our friends kids won the kids trout derby 5 years in a row) Last year it took 1.5 hours for us to catch our 25 trout, only fished Sat. as 25 trout was more than enough. So this year as we got to the lake at 9 am we set up next to our neighbor, the 4 of them who had been there for a couple hours. When I asked him how many fish they had he said ZERO! in fact they had yet to get a bite. For 2 more hours the 10 of us sat there with lines in the water at 11:30 we called it a day NONE of us yet to get a fish or a bite. Earlier the Worden came by and we asked him what was going on, we said we had not had a bite and have not seen a single fish caught either on shore or from a boat angler, his reply was that they stocked the lake a little later than normal and maybe that's why the fish weren't biting, BS! So did anyone else fish there, how did you do? maybe the fish were just out deeper this year.

We kept 6 Saturday morning for a fish breakfast and easily released enough to have our 15 fish limit (3 people) if we had wanted.

We were on the water at 7 and off by 10. Went back out in the afternoon and C&R a bunch until that hail/rain storm came through and blew us off the water.

Sunday was a different story. Started at 7 and off by 10 with one takedown and no fish landed.

I think that series of little fronts that came through Saturday afternoon/evening put the fish off the bite Sunday.

F4 Flatfish trolled slow with no weight was the ticket Saturday.

I didn't fish it myself but a good friend gave it a try and said it was the worst he has ever done there.
