Were's the Brass?

I know this is an on going  thing, but where is all the Brass ? I don't want to make brass out of different calibers, I just want new stuff. 300 WSM 338 RUM and 7 WSM. this shortage has to be away to get us to buy loaded ammo.  Anyone know the story on why we can't get Brass, please don't go into the government is behind this shortage. I think it's the company's that produce the stuff. thanks for any input to this Problem.

I think it is the companies mostly.  My understanding is that they don't produce all calibers at one time, but do them in seasonal runs.  Then they fill orders, so if loaded ammo had the contract first--they do loaded and put others on backorder for the next seasonal run.

Ironic this topic came up today as I just got off the phone with my dad who's been looking all over he11 for new Rem 6mm brass.

I sometimes wonder if these brass manufacturers just keep on making the same 3-4 uber popular cases until they get caught up with the demand of those 3-4.  If I was in the brass making business and there were 3-4 cases that I couldn't make enough of to ever get caught up with demand, why would I ever switch over to anything else.  I'd probably just stick to making those most popular cases until their demand started to fall off and when that finally happened I'd make cases for the next highest demand round.  I don't know if that's how it works but I could certainly understand why they'd do it that way if they did.

 You mean where is all the "cheaper" brass don't you? I see boxes of Nosler brass everywhere I go. :dunno:

Longer the production runs the more "effecient" they are. If everything loaded in common calibers is selling then why sell just brass. I think that is also one of the reasons why you can find expensive 22lr like mini mags and such vs the cheep bulk ammo. same equiptment running 24/7 just higher profit componets.  :twocents:

Maybe we could get a Petition going and send it to the Brass Producers, I bet we could get a lot of signatures wouldn't know how to go about it, but I would think someone one here would. What you all think?  Jaques

But for what brass.  There's hundreds of different case types people are wanting.

I just looked at Midway USA no problem with any of the brass all in stock.
